Professor Libby Adler Appointed to Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth

12.10.2025 — Professor Libby Adler has been appointed to the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth, which advises those in state government on effective policies, programs and resources for LGBTQ youth. Adler, whose teaching, research and writing focus on sexuality, gender, family and children, including foster care, will serve a two-year term on the 50-member commission, which issues annual recommendations, works in partnership with 21 state entities, holds community events and listening sessions and produces the Safe Schools Program with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

“I’m super excited to contribute to the Commission’s 30+ year history of improving the conditions for LGBTQ+ youth in Massachusetts. The Commission’s work is more important than ever as trans and gender-nonconforming youth find themselves under attack by the federal government,” said Adler, author of Gay Priori: A Queer Critical Legal Studies Approach to Law Reform (Duke University Press, 2018) and the forthcoming book, The Queerness of Political Economies: Genealogies of LGBTQ Law in Cuba and the US (Cambridge University Press, 2026).
