09.25.23 — Barry Bisson ’13, founding attorney at Bisson Law, is board president of the Northeastern Law Alumni/ae Association for 2023-2024. Building on Northeastern Law’s reputation as the “Queerest Law School in the Country,” Bisson plans to spotlight the many ways the law school supports the LGBTQ+ community at a time of widespread discrimination.
“What attracted me most to Northeastern Law was how students and faculty stood in solidarity with one another,” said Bisson. “Other institutions I visited had only what I can describe as a sense of one-for-one. Here at Northeastern Law, I could be me, an openly gay man who never had to worry about being accepted.”
As board president, Bisson also intends to connect graduates to the school and each other, support the law school initiatives through the Office of Development and Alumni/ae Relations and provide engaging programs for both students and graduates.
“We will have many signature programs throughout the year – including Alumni/ae Weekend, our Connections networking event and our now annual Woo Sox event in the spring. On behalf of the Alumni/ae Board of Directors, we hope to see our graduates from around the globe come to these incredible events to show the students, each other and the nation that we will always stand by one another.”
A native of Massachusetts, Bisson is licensed to practice in Massachusetts, New York, several federal courts and the Supreme Court of the United States. He represents individuals and businesses in criminal defense and breach of contract cases.
