Northeastern Law’s Center for Global Law and Justice Selected to Host Leading International Human Rights Online Hub

10.23.2024 — In a highly competitive process, Northeastern Law’s recently established Center for Global Law and Justice has been selected to serve as the new host for the vast collection of human rights resources currently housed at the International Justice Resource Center (IJRC) Online Resource Hub, which attracts as many as 75,000 visitors per month from more than 190 countries.  In addition to selecting Northeastern as the hub’s new home, Lisa Reinsberg, founder of IJRC and its hub, and the IJRC Board of Directors have helped secure a $550,000 grant to Northeastern to build upon the hub’s success and take it to the next level.

The IJRC Online Resource Hub contains an unparalleled collection of original research and advocacy tools, as well as publicly available resources. This collection helps users understand human rights law, make strategic decisions about whether and how to engage in international human rights advocacy, identify advocacy opportunities, and make compelling arguments and submissions to courts and human rights monitoring bodies. The hub provides invaluable assistance to scholars, advocates, journalists and the public. The Northeastern version of the hub will launch in 2025.

“The resources developed, collected and organized by Lisa Reinsberg and her team have facilitated important human rights scholarship and advocacy across the globe,” said Elizabeth Ennen ’08, director of the Center for Global Law and Justice. “We are thrilled and honored to assume responsibility for these resources. Thanks to the philanthropic support this project has received, we will be able to create a  resource hub at Northeastern that honors the work of the IJRC and expands it in novel directions.”

Reinsberg, an accomplished human rights attorney, created the IJRC and its Online Resource Hub in 2010 and has served as the executive director of IJRC since its launch. In addition to materials on international human rights law, the IJRC hub also provides resources on international humanitarian law and international criminal law.

“We are delighted to have found such an excellent home for the IJRC’s collection of human rights resources,” said Reinsberg. “Northeastern Law stands out for its faculty members’ human rights expertise and real-world impact, as well as its focus on training public interest lawyers. It is a pleasure to support the Center for Global Law and Justice and we wish it well with its work promoting human rights and justice around the world!”
