Clea Strydom LLM ’25 Awarded Prestigious Scholarship to Attend IAPP Global Privacy Summit

02.07.25 — Clea Strydom LLM ’25 has won a $1,000 scholarship to attend the IAPP Global Privacy Summit in Washington, DC, on April 23-24, 2025. Strydom is one of 25 students selected for the support, which is funded by the IAPP and attorney Andrew Serwin, a partner with DLA Piper.

“This is an amazing opportunity which strongly aligns with my interest in the intersection between law, human rights, and AI and digital policy,” said Strydom, a native of South Africa who serves on a consultancy basis as the assistant to the chair of the Independent International Panel on Arbitrary Detention in State-to-State Relations and previously served as a project director and researcher for the Centre for International Law and Policy in Africa.

The IAPP Global Privacy Summit will focus on solutions to strategic issues and day-to-day challenges in privacy, artificial intelligence governance and digital responsibility. Designed for all levels of experience, summit speakers and sessions unravel the complexities of law, regulation, policy, management and operations. The 2025 agenda features more than 80 breakout sessions on specific topics.
