Jared Nicholson serves as director of the Community Business Clinic, which provides free legal services to startups, entrepreneurs and small businesses in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Professor Nicholson’s clinical supervision, teaching and writing focus on transactional skills and community economic development. He was previously an associate in the Boston office of Latham & Watkins, representing emerging companies from startup through IPO. Prior to that, he founded and led Northeast Legal Aid’s Community Development and Entrepreneurship Practice in Lynn and Lawrence, Massachusetts, as a Skadden Fellow.
Before law school, Professor Nicholson worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in New York and Mexico City. While in law school, he served as executive director of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau.
Professor Nicholson serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Affordable Housing and Community Development, the journal of the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law. He is currently a member of the School Committee of Lynn, Massachusetts, first elected in 2015.
