Holistic Legal Advocacy: The Role of the Modern Public Defender

On January 24, 2020, Northeastern Laws Center for Public Interest Advocacy and Collaboration (CPIAC) convened a panel of national thought leaders on holistic legal advocacy. Their vigorous discussion covered an array of topics, including the need to focus on community engagement in public defense practice, the myth of the “progressive prosecutor” and the alignment of public defense work with broader criminal justice reform efforts, including the Black Lives Matter and prison abolition movements.
