Northeastern Law Appoints Jason Owen as Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives, Admissions and Financial Aid
07.23.26 — Northeastern Law is pleased to announce that Jason Owen will join the school as associate dean for strategic initiatives, admissions and financial aid, effective August 10, 2026. Owen brings 12 years of law school admissions leadership to the role, most recently as assistant dean of admissions and financial aid at the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law. Owen has been deeply engaged with the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) since 2016, including as chair of its Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Subcommittee, a member of its Mission and Impact Committee, and faculty for its PLUS Program. He also serves on the American Bar Association’s Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and has been a frequent presenter at LSAC and pre-law advisor conferences nationally on topics including class-building strategy and support for LGBTQIA+ applicants.

His track record of building classes while navigating enormous changes in our field makes him exactly the leader we need as we chart Northeastern Law's next chapter. Prior to joining Quinney College of Law, Owen served as assistant dean of admissions at the University of Idaho College of Law and, before that, held progressively senior admissions roles at his alma mater, Capital University Law School, including assistant dean, interim director and associate director of admission. Before entering law school administration, he practiced law in Erie, Pennsylvania, focusing on consumer protection, bankruptcy and civil litigation, and maintained an active record of community and nonprofit board service.
Owen holds a JD from Capital University Law School and a BA in political science, with minors in economics and theatre, from Allegheny College. He is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
