Northeastern Law Trademark Moot Court Team Advances to National Finals
02.12.26 — Nadia Boudoukara ’26, Gabrielle Kozurek ’27, Michael Charla ’27 and Anthea Simon ’26 took second place at the Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Moot Court regional competition, which took place in New York on Saturday, February 7. The annual competition is hosted by the International Trademark Association to engage students in trademark and unfair competition law. This year’s fact pattern raised issues of trademark infringement, reckless disregard in trademark adoption and profit awards when earned by non-party affiliates. The team submitted a brief in early January and argued as sub-teams of two before two separate three-judge panels at the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn. The New York region includes the six New England states as well as New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Washington, DC.
Serving as team manager, Josh Baker ’27 played a key role in organizing practices and keeping the team on track over the past four months in preparation for competition.
“I am immensely proud of the team members for their outstanding performance and well-earned recognition,” said Professor Bruce Jacoby, who served as the team’s faculty advisor and coach. “Their rigorous preparation, intellectual agility and unwavering professionalism exemplify the very best of our law school community.”
The team now advances to the national finals in Washington, DC, on March 28, where they’ll look to build on Northeastern Law’s success — last year's team finished second overall at the national finals.
