03.13.2025 –Professor Karl Klare and Jennifer Loveland Rose ’25 will be honored at the 2025 National Lawyers Guild (NLG) Massachusetts Chapter Annual Testimonial Dinner this May, recognizing their contributions to social justice and public interest law.

Klare, an internationally renowned scholar in labor and employment law, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades of scholarship, teaching and activism in advancing workers' rights and progressive legal thought. “I am thrilled by this honor, especially because my career was in teaching rather than law practice,” said Klare. “The recognition is for our work at Northeastern Law as much as it is for me.”

Loveland-Rose will be honored with the Student Award. “It is an honor to receive this recognition, especially amongst this year’s group of recipients. Over my time at Northeastern, I have seen how Northeastern Law’s NLG chapter has been foundational for disbursing invaluable information on people’s rights in various contexts, training legal observers, building a base of student organizing for Palestinian liberation, advancing discussions on abolition, and raising money for mutual aid. The mission of the National Lawyers Guild, to use the law for the protection of human rights and ecosystems over property interests, should not be radical but is unfortunately rare to find in a legal organization. It was the community and events organized through our NLG chapter that grounded, energized, and sustained me during my legal education. NLG’s contributions to our campus culture are integral to ensuring that Northeastern Law’s identity as a progressive public interest institution is not simply a marketing tool based on the school’s history, but a reality on our campus now and always,” said Loveland-Rose who plans to pursue a public interest career in environmental justice law and policy advocacy upon graduation.

They will be recognized alongside fellow honorees at the NLG’s annual dinner on Friday, May 16, at the Arts at the Armory in Somerville, Massachusetts.
