Roberts Named Faculty Director of Center for Law, Information and Creativity
06.14.24 — Professor Alexandra Roberts, a leading authority on intellectual property and social media, has been named faculty director of Northeastern Law’s Center for Law, Information and Creativity (CLIC), which combines the study of innovation and creativity with the law school’s social justice mission. CLIC is a unique environment attracting diverse scholars, lawyers, students, creators, innovators, start-up ventures and established companies to study the regulation of intellectual property and technology with the aim of promoting progress.
“Professor Roberts is a highly valued member of our faculty who has already brought keen insights and energy to CLIC as member of the center’s task force. Now, as faculty director of CLIC, her visionary perspective and commitment to advancing CLIC’s innovative approach will no doubt stir exciting and revelatory conversations and research related to the complexities of intellectual property and technology that we are grappling with as lawyers and non-lawyers alike. We are delighted that she is taking on this role and look forward to vibrant discussions and events in the coming year,” said Dean James Hackney.
“I am thrilled to take the helm at CLIC this summer and continue developing Northeastern Law’s leadership in intellectual property, privacy, technology, entertainment law and social justice,” said Roberts, whose research focuses on federal trademark and false advertising law, particularly in cyberspace. “We are working on some exciting events for the coming year and I look forward to partnering with colleagues, student groups, CLIC scholars and staff to bring in programming that complements our course offerings and features perspectives from academics, practitioners and advocates working on the cutting edge in those areas. As a faculty member at both the School of Law and the College of Arts, Media and Design, I hope to continue building bridges that connect students and faculty across academic departments within Northeastern—we have so much to learn from one another.”
