Students Bond With Ancient ‘Beings’ in Old Growth Forests of the Pacific Northwest
Professor Andrew Haile recently co-led an immersive Dialogue of Civilizations course that brought a group of Northeastern students to the ancient forests of the Pacific Northwest to explore the legal and philosophical frameworks for protecting “old-growth” forests — woods that have not been logged since European settlement of North America. “We really talk through and try to come and speak to people coming at the issue from all sides,” he tells Northeastern Global News.
