Noelle Gulick ’24 Selected for Fulbright to Bosnia and Herzegovina

05.16.24 — Noelle Gulick ’24 has been selected to receive a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award for the 2024-2025 academic year. Founded by an act of Congress in 1946, immediately after the violence of World War II, the Fulbright was envisioned as a way “to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge and skills.” Gulick will be based at a university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she will build on her knowledge of the Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian language. She also plans to work with a human rights or international law organization during her tenure.
“I was all set to go to Sarajevo, Bosnia, for the 2020-2021 academic year and started studying the language to prepare but was never able to go due to the pandemic,” said Gulick. “I am more than excited that Fulbright gives me another opportunity. I chose Bosnia because of the recent international law history there, which is my field of interest. Fulbright will allow me to teach and work with university students and professors, while also learning more from their experience and expertise. A Fulbright award has been a goal of mine for many years, and I am incredibly honored to receive it. I hope that this accomplishment shows that there are many meaningful non-traditional paths people can take after receiving a law degree.”
