Student Life

Northeastern Law values diversity, collaboration and laughter.

A Different Kind of Law School Community

Law schools have a reputation for being environments of ruthless competition. Not Northeastern.

We cultivate a collegial and supportive atmosphere that begins in the classroom and extends throughout campus. Students regard one another as peers rather than rivals — teaming up for projects and study sessions, collaborating as members of student groups and forging professional and personal bonds that endure long after graduation.

No matter how challenging the subject matter, students learn best (and retain their love of learning) when taught in a supportive environment that emphasizes collaboration. Academics at Northeastern are characterized by team-based projects and vigorous intellectual exchange. In addition, our students receive detailed written evaluations from their professors rather than letter grades. Through co-ops, clinics, mock trial competitions, fellowships and more, our students are able to distinguish themselves and push themselves to meet the demands of a rigorous legal education without having to race other students to the top.

As part of the broader Northeastern University community, our students enjoy access to extensive facilities and resources that range from state-of-the-art fitness centers to a library collection of nearly one million volumes. And thanks to our location in the heart of Boston, students are within walking distance of some the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods and exciting cultural and entertainment attractions.
