Bio
Jane E. López is a practicing attorney with over twenty-five years' experience working exclusively in the areas of civil rights and education law. Professor López currently works at Sanghavi Law Office, providing services related to investigations of sex, race, color, national origin and disability discrimination in K-12 schools, colleges, and universities. Prior to her work with Sanghavi Law Office, Professor López served as a team leader with the US Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR) where she managed a team charged with investigating and resolving complaints alleging violations of civil rights statutes and led reviews of schools regarding their compliance with relevant regulations enforced by OCR. Prior to joining OCR, Professor López worked for Multicultural Education, Training & Advocacy (META, Inc.), a national non-profit organization which specialized in the rights of language minority youth. Her work included community organizing, policy development and analysis, advocacy and litigation on behalf of students who were English language learners.
