Flex JD Application Process
FlexJD Transfer Applicants
The School of Law welcomes transfer applications from students who will have completed their first year at an ABA-approved law school.
If accepted, transfer students will begin upper-level coursework in the fall term. Applicants will receive a decision shortly after their files are complete. Transcripts must include all grades from the first-year law curriculum.
To apply as a transfer student, submit the following:
- Application by deadline*
- Dean’s letter of good standing
- Résumé
- Transfer statement
- CAS report that includes LSAT results, letter(s) of recommendation (one letter from a current law school professor required; two letters allowed) and all required transcripts, including your current law school.
There is no application fee for any application.
* Applications received after July 1 will be reviewed on a space-available basis. All admitted students must submit an enrollment deposit no later than July 15.
Transfer Student Pathway and Requirements
- To apply as a transfer student, you will need to complete at least 5 academic semesters plus one co-op and one practical experience, for a total of at least 7 semesters.
- FlexJD students register for 7 to 10 credits per semester, with the possibility of overloading at 11 or underloading at 6 with permission.
If you enter in the fall with 34 transferable 1L credits, your pathway will look like this:

If you enter with fewer than 30 credits, your pathway to graduation will be longer.
