Elaine Marshall ’22 Joins Salus Populi Judicial Education Program as Research Scientist
08.19.24 — Elaine Marshall ’22 has joined Northeastern Law’s Center for Health Policy and Law’s Salus Populi: Educating the Judiciary about the Social Determinants of Health, as a research scientist. A collaboration with the Northeastern University Institute for Health Equity and Social Justice Research (IHESJR), Salus Populi is a judicial education program that provides judges and attorneys with the tools to recognize how the social determinants of health impact the issues that come before the court and evaluate public health research relating to the social determinants of health. Marshall’s work focuses on issues at the intersection of law and public health, with particular emphasis on mental health and social factors impacting health.
“We are thrilled to have Elaine join the team full time. Elaine’s passion for and expertise in health law and public health has been invaluable to the team. This continued growth of the SP team will allow for us to reach more judges and attorneys nationally,” said Jasmine Howard, senior legal program manager for Salus Populi.
“I’m excited to continue with the Salus Populi project, and supporting initiatives at the intersection of law and public health!,” said Marshall, who recently completed a postdoctoral research fellowship working for Salus Populi under the IHESJR. In addition to earning her JD from Northeastern Law, Marshall also earned an MPH through the law school’s dual-degree program with Tufts University School of Medicine.
Salus Populi is supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
