Elyse D. Cherry ’83 Establishes Pride Fund at Northeastern Law

07.06.26 — Elyse D. Cherry ’83 — named one of the Top 100 LGBTQ+ Executives in the World by the Financial Times and OUTstanding, and one of the 50 Most Influential Bostonians by the Boston Business Journal — has established the Elyse D. Cherry ’83 Pride Fund to support Northeastern Law’s new LGBTQ+ Clinic. One of only a handful of such clinics in the nation, the clinic will provide critical legal services to LGBTQ+ individuals and communities.

“We are thrilled to launch this clinic and deeply grateful to Elyse for her extraordinary generosity and vision,” said Dean James Hackney. “Northeastern Law has long been home to LGBTQ+ trailblazers and Elyse is a shining example of that impact. Her gift will ensure that the next generation of advocates has the tools, training and resources to carry this critical work forward.”

Cherry, CEO of BlueHub Capital, has been a tireless champion for LGBTQ+ rights and economic justice. Women’s eNews has honored her as one of 21 Leaders for the 21st Century. In 2014, the White House named Cherry a Solar Champion of Change, and she received the Susan M. Love Award from Fenway Health that same year. Wellesley College presented her with its Alumnae Achievement Award in 2017. Under her leadership, BlueHub Capital has been named one of the Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts by Boston Globe Magazine and The Women's Edge every year since 2014.

“Every movement for equality begins with someone willing to take the first step. I’m so proud of our law school for starting a clinic that helps ensure that LGBTQ+ individuals can access the legal advocacy they need to live safely and authentically,” said Cherry. “I hope graduates and friends of the law school will join me in supporting this critical work.”
