Matt Cregor is a civil rights attorney who has practiced education law with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., Southern Poverty Law Center, Lawyers for Civil Rights and now the Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee. In these roles, Professor Cregor has worked on a host of K-12 and higher educational issues including racial harassment, voluntary integration, admissions, teacher diversity, school funding, special education and school discipline. Professor Cregor is proudest of the work he has done in partnership with community organizations, including his work with the parent-led, student-led, and educator-led base-building groups of the national Dignity in Schools Campaign to secure federal school discipline reform during the Obama administration. He has served on education-related advisory groups for the Council of State Governments, New York State Permanent Judicial Commission on Justice for Children, Northeastern University and Boston Public Schools, among others. Professor Cregor is a former public school teacher and the 2018 recipient of the Boston Bar Association’s John G. Brooks Legal Services Award.
