Bio

Stephen Kohn is a partner in the Washington, DC, law firm of Kohn, Kohn & Colapinto and the founder of the National Whistleblower Center. Mr. Kohn served as the director of corporate litigation for the Government Accountability Project and is widely recognized as the nation’s leading expert on whistleblower law. His eighth book on whistleblowing, Rules for Whistleblowers: A Handbook for Doing What’s Right (Lyons Press, 2023), was recognized by Kirkus as a Top 100 Indie Book of 2023. Additionally, Rules for Whistleblowers was awarded The Kirkus Star, which recognizes exceptional merit in books.

Kohn worked with Congress to draft key whistleblower protection provisions enacted into laws such as the Dodd-Frank, Sarbanes-Oxley and Whistleblower Protection Acts. In 2012 he successfully represented the first major Swiss bank whistleblower, obtaining for his client the largest reward ever paid to an individual whistleblower ($104 million dollars). In 2014 Mr. Kohn and his firm were named by the National Law Journal as one of the fifty top plaintiff's lawyers/firms in the United States.
