Bio
Lori Rassas has more than two decades of experience working on employment law, labor law and human resources matters, and teaching diverse student populations at all levels. At Northeastern Law, she teaches Employment Discrimination and Contracts.
Throughout her career, Professor Rassas has provided extensive legal and human resources guidance and counsel across all phases of the employment process to both employers and employees and in both unionized and nonunionized environments. She has developed a pragmatic approach to navigating employment relationships, derived from her experience resolving complex issues that have arisen on both sides of the employment relationship and at the bargaining table. Her current and prior employers include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Columbia University and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (now SAG-AFTRA), among others. She also has her own consulting practice, through which she offers guidance on employment matters, executive coaching and both live and web-based training workshops.
Professor Rassas received an LLM in labor and employment law from New York University Law School, a JD from The George Washington University Law School and a BA from Tufts University. She completed a certificate program in artificial intelligence from eCornell, and she has a TEFL certification from the TEFL organization. She is also a member of the New York and New Jersey bars, certified as a senior professional in human resources (SPHR), a trained mediator and arbitrator, and the author of several books on workplace matters, including Employment Law: A Guide to Hiring, Managing and Firing for Employers and Employees (6th ed. Aspen Publishing 2026), The Portable Perpetual Paycheck: Getting a Job, Keeping a Job, and Earning Income for Life in the Potentially Remote Workplace and Negotiating Without the Nonsense: Straightforward and Effective Strategies to Obtain the Best Possible Compensation Package.
Along with her extensive practical experience, Professor Rassas teaches in undergraduate, paralegal, JD, master of legal studies/master of studies in law, executive MBA, and master of science (human capital management) programs. In addition to teaching at Northeastern Law, she has taught at Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law, Berkeley College, Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health and School of Professional Studies, Fordham University School of Law, Texas A&M University School of Law and USC Gould School of Law, among others.
