08.09.22 — The National Lawyers Guild (NLG) Massachusetts Chapter will present Annemarie Guare ’22 with a student award at its annual testimonial dinner on Friday, October 7, 2022. Professor Margaret Burnham, director of the law school’s Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Project, will serve as one of the masters of ceremony for the event.

“I am honored and grateful to be receiving this award from the Guild, an organization that has taught and given me so much,” said Guare, who served as a NLG Street Law Clinic coordinator during her second and third years of law school. “To be invited to stand alongside my fellow honorees, as well as build community with organizers, activists, community members and movement lawyers across the state, is a true gift that I am so thankful for. I am so excited to continue this work as a lawyer, and I want to say a huge thank you to the Guild for this incredible honor.”

Guare joins the housing unit of the Fitchburg office of Community Legal Aid later this month as a staff attorney. In her new role, she will represent tenants in various housing matters across Massachusetts. During her time at Northeastern, Guare worked with non-citizens seeking asylum as a student attorney with the Immigrant Justice Clinic and as a co-op student at Greater Boston Legal Services. She also served as an editor of the Northeastern University Law Review and a teaching assistant in the Legal Skills in Social Context program
