Kristin Meader ’27 Awarded Prestigious NCLC Gupta Fellowship

02.05.26 —Kristin Meader ’27 has been selected as the National Consumer Law Center’s 2026 Sandip J. Gupta Memorial Fellow, a prestigious honor named in memory of the late director of data services and market pricing intelligence for Compass Professional Health Services (now part of Alight Solutions). The fellowship continues Gupta’s legacy of creating affordable healthcare. Meader is one of only six law students awarded NCLC internships for summer 2026.

The Gupta Fellowship is awarded to a student who demonstrates a strong commitment to public interest law. Meader will spend her fellowship at NCLC’s Boston headquarters working on issues that address the burden of medical debt and increase access to affordable healthcare for all Americans.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join NCLC, an organization well respected for its commitment to economic justice and consumer protection,” said Meader, who was selected in 2024 for Northeastern Law’s Health Policy and Law Scholarship, the school’s highest honor for students pursuing careers in health policy and law. “This opportunity allows me to build my legal skills in a meaningful way while taking an important step toward using the law to advocate for consumers and patients in the healthcare system.”

Richard Dubois, NCLC’s executive director, praised this year’s internship class: “This group of law students deeply impressed us with their academic talent and their dedication to public interest law and economic justice, and we’re excited to welcome them to NCLC this summer.”

In addition to a paid summer internship, the students will receive free registration to attend the Consumer Rights Litigation Conference, hosted by NCLC and the National Association of Consumer Advocates, in October in Atlanta.
