Northeastern Law Ranked in Top 50 Law Schools
06.25.23 —Northeastern Law has been ranked No. 44 in the 11th annual installment of the Above the Law Top 50 Law School Rankings. Above the Law (ATL) analyzed data for 120 law schools, with a focus on “national” law schools.
“The ATL Top 50 Law School Rankings prioritize the only thing that really matters: outcomes,” according to the ATL website. “The premise underlying our approach to ranking schools remains the same: Given the steep cost of law school and the harsh realities of the legal job market — exacerbated by the continuing fallout from the global pandemic—potential students should prioritize their future employment prospects over all other factors in deciding whether and where to attend law school. The relative quality of schools is a function of how they deliver on the promise of gainful legal employment.”
Northeastern Law’s employment statistics are impressive. In the class of 2022, 49 percent of students obtained post-graduate positions with law firms, while 40 percent joined government, public interest organizations or were selected for judicial clerkships. Nine percent of the class went into business or industry while 2 percent went on to pursue educational opportunities.
“These metrics evince the spirit of Northeastern Law, namely in creating more opportunities to make an impact in the world around them,” said Assistant Dean Quaime Lee ’02, who heads the law school’s Center for Co-op and Career Development. “Our grads are finding more choices than ever, choices that allow them to do a wide range of legal work, whether at the border or in the boardroom, in courthouses and statehouses, at multi-national law firms or defending the rights of those on the societal margins.”
