Rachel Garcia ’21 Awarded Prestigious CLOC Scholarship
04.01.20 — Rachel Garcia ’21 has been named a 2020 Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC) Scholarship recipient. Only 10 CLOC scholarships are awarded each year to graduate students who have a business/metrics driven focus as it relates to the practice of law or have demonstrated an interest in legal operations.
Garcia is a member of the Northeastern Law Review. She received her undergraduate degree in business administration and international hospitality management with a specialization in sustainability and innovation from Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, Switzerland, in 2016. Her goal is to work in a legal operations position in the hospitality sector after she graduates so that she can bring her past experience and her current legal knowledge together into one career.
“I am thrilled CLOC chose me as one of their scholarship recipients. I would like to thank CLOC and more specifically the scholarship committee for selecting me,” says Garcia. “This scholarship means a lot to me because my goal is to have a career in legal operations when I graduate. This semester in the law and practice management class, I have been enjoying learning about different legal technologies that I could apply in a legal operations setting. I look forward to working closely with my CLOC mentor and developing a deeper connection with the legal operations network.”
“We are extremely proud of Rachel for receiving a coveted CLOC Scholarship,” says Rhonda Rittenberg, Director of New Markets at Northeastern Law. “Rachel will now have the opportunity to attend CLOC events and be paired with a regional leader for career guidance and mentorship. This unparalleled experience will serve her well as she pursues a career path that will leverage her knowledge of law, technology and innovation and taps into her wealth of experience in the hospitality sector. Legal operations is a growing field for law students and lawyers to consider, especially those who have a passion for the business of law and harnessing technology and innovation in the delivery of legal services.”
