Woo Strengthens Northeastern Law Collaborations in China

12.15.23 — In November, Professor Margaret Y.K. Woo traveled to China on behalf of Northeastern Law to renew the school’s agreements with Renmin University of China, Fudan University, Wuhan University and East China University of Political Science and Law, and to build new alliances with additional universities.

Woo met with representatives of 11 schools, delivered talks at seven schools and discussed training programs with representatives of the Beijing Lawyers Association and the Shanghai Bar Association. She secured new co-op opportunities in Shanghai for Northeastern Law students and met with prospective students interested in the law school’s LLM program.. She also joined former Northeastern Law visiting scholars for a festive dinner.

“It was a pleasure to return to China to cultivate these important relationships,” said Woo, a leading expert on the Anglo-American legal system and the Chinese socialist legal system who has written two books about East Asian law and justice. “Our long-standing collaborations with a variety of universities in China have brought us together with students and scholars who enrich the legal education and discourse we provide to our students and community.”
