Director’s Welcome
Northeastern Law: Experience the Practice!
At Northeastern University School of Law, we practice what we teach. Every student pursuing the LLM degree — whether on campus or online — learns the practice of law from expert faculty whose experience guarantees they understand what it means to practice. And just like our JD students, LLM students who choose to study on our vibrant Boston campus get to experience legal practice full time and firsthand, thanks to Northeastern’s global co-op internship program, which provides our students with rewarding legal practice opportunities around the world.
Students who opt to earn their Northeastern LLM online may choose to join us for an optional immersive in-residence experience working with lawyers in the San Francisco Bay Area/Silicon Valley. Online learners leave aside screen time for face time with industry leaders in law and technology, experiencing what it’s like to put their LLM lessons to work. (Those in the online program with plans to take the California bar exam can also make test-prep part of their residency.)
According to the old riddle, the only way to get to Carnegie Hall (New York’s world-class performing arts venue) is to “practice, practice, practice.” In the legal profession, too, if you want to reach the heights, nothing beats practice. Experience the best: in class, online, on the ground, in the field. Northeastern’s practice of legal education — with experience at its center — ensures that our graduates are practice-ready on Day 1. We welcome you to join our global community of experienced learners.
