The Algorithmic Workplace: A Workshop

Digital technologies are transforming the global economy, reshaping labor markets, employment relations and public services in far reaching ways.

Please join us for the culminating event of a five-year National Science Foundation funded project on “The Algorithmic Workplace.”

As legislation and ballot referenda are currently under consideration in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, better understandings of algorithmically-controlled work are vitally important. This project has been a collaboration among Northeastern and Boston College researchers from social science, engineering and law, focusing on issues of the distribution of risk, economic opportunity and regulations that further the public interest.

The workshop will bring together a diverse group of scholars, policymakers and the public at large. Sessions will be devoted to analytic models of algorithmically-managed services, the worker experience and regulatory challenges.
