Northeastern Law’s Leadership Masterclass is designed for high-level Northeastern University School of Law women attorneys who seek to strengthen their leadership skills in a one-day setting that will focus on how to develop additional areas of strength and growth. Our aim is to inspire and empower participants to explore and frame their own careers within their organization, and beyond, as well as enable continuing connections among attendees. Participants will walk away emboldened to create the leadership environment that they desire and may inspire them to take a leap to another level.

8:30 AM | Registration, Networking and Coffee |
9:00 AM |
Welcome Advisory Council |
9:15 -10:15 AM | Panel 1 Power, Money and Values The big three: power—the ability to do things; money—material wealth; and values—what you believe to be important. As women, socialized from childhood to be more cooperatively focused, it can be difficult for us to come to grips with our relationship with money and power. How can we get more comfortable with owning our attitudes, beliefs and feelings about power and money? And how can we use power and money to support our values? Our panelists will guide us in some soul-searching as they talk about the interplay among power, money and values in their own personal and professional lives. Speakers include: Dimple Abichandani ’02, Executive Director, General Services Foundation Elyse Cherry ’83, CEO, BlueHub Capital L. Tracee Whitley ’97, Dean for Administration, Harvard Law School |
10:15 – 10:55 AM | Panel 2 Risk and Reward Behold the turtle: She only makes progress when she sticks her neck out. As professional women, we are all turtles. We have to take risks and embrace change in order to progress in living lives of meaning and purpose. The trick, of course, is managing risk and balancing our professional interests with the interests of our employers as well as personal and family interests. It can be a tough juggling act, with no one right answer—or answers that change over time. Our panelists will share their stories of navigating risk and reward and how they finally found settings where they can thrive. Speakers include: Navjeet Bal ’89, Managing Director and General Counsel, Social Finance, Inc. Nancy Cremins ’03, Leadership and Executive Coach, Crisilid Betty Francisco ’98, CEO, Boston Impact Initiative |

11:15 -11:55 AM | Panel 3 She Wins: We Win The old boys’ network. For centuries, it is how men have managed to hold on to so much of the power in the business arena. But with more women joining the top ranks (not enough, but still more than there used to be), turn-about is definitely fair play. It’s time to strengthen and expand the women’s network—to both learn how to best support other women leaders as well as how to reach back to help up-and-coming women. Join the discussion as panelists talk about their own leadership journeys and how they are benefitting the next generation. Speakers include: Suzanne Abair, President and COO, Northland; Co-Owner and CEO, Atlanta Dream WNBA Captain Bowen C. Spievack ’01, Executive Assistant to the Judge Advocate General, U.S. Coast Guard; Chief, Office of the U.S. Coast Guard Office of Legal Policy and Program Development Lisa Warren ’94, Managing Partner, Morse |
