Mariam Hassan ’26 Honored With Fruit of Action Award
04.24.24 — Mariam Hassan ’26 has received the 2024 Fruit of Action Award from Northeastern University’s Center for Intercultural Engagement and Social Justice Resource Center, in recognition of her work this year with Students for Justice in Palestine and Law Students for Justice in Palestine. The award recognizes students or student organizations whose fruits of labor have demonstrated transformative action and change with the Northeastern community and beyond.
“Being awarded the 2024 Fruit of Action Award is an opportunity to increase visibility and recognition for Pro-Palestinian advocacy on campus and beyond,” said Hassan. “As a Muslim American of Arab descent, I hoped that committing to law school would provide me with an opportunity to advocate for my communities and their fight for complete liberation. With no universities left in Gaza, it is our duty as students to advocate for Palestine.”
“Receiving the 2024 Fruit of Action Award is not just an honor, it’s a recognition of our duty to advocate wisely and persistently for justice and human rights,” she added. “This award amplifies our voice, fortifies our resolve and broadens the reach of our efforts to ensure that our advocacy continues to make a meaningful difference.”
