Angela Munro came to law school with a plan to do all of her co-ops abroad.“I had studied in Europe and South America and had a master’s in international affairs from the Fletcher School at Tufts,” she explains. Angela naturally assumed she’d co-op overseas as well. But her life evolved personally and professionally while she was a student, and she found herself rethinking how she could pursue international law while stateside.
The answer proved to be immigration law. On co-op with Choate Hall & Stewart in Boston, Angela handled an immigration matter — advising a client and preparing an application for legal permanent residence. Following graduation, Angela built on that experience as a law clerk for the US Immigration Court in Boston and went on to service as an attorney advisor for the same court in Washington, DC. “It’s was a perfect mix for me, involving human rights, immigration and international matters,” she says. “I was able to do some interesting things because I was able to re-evaluate my path.”
Today, Angela serves as an immigration judge in the US Department of Justice Boston Immigration Court.

Angela worked on a case concerning a woman from Latin America, who had been severely abused by her husband, and was seeking asylum based on that abuse.

Angela conducted research and drafted legal memoranda on a variety of issues including choice of law in insurance disputes, judicial review of arbitration awards, and criminal liability for workplace negligence.

Angela researched legal issues in pending cases before the Immigration Court and drafted federal decisions and bond memoranda for seven Immigration judges.
