About the IAPP Certification Programs
We live in an information economy. And as data becomes today’s most valuable currency, the risk associated with it continues to skyrocket. Professionals who understand these risks—and the global information management practices needed to safeguard data—are in high demand. That’s where certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) comes in.

CLIC’s Reimbursement Program
IAPP offers NUSL students a discounted student membership, which includes:
- One year (12 months) IAPP student membership;
- Access to self-paced online training for one IAPP certification program;
- E-textbooks for the selected certification program;
- Sample questions;
- Exam voucher; and
- Access to additional IAPP membership benefits.
CLIC will reimburse students for the cost of this membership if they successfully pass the exam for one certification program.
Registration and Reimbursement
Interested in registering for the IAPP student membership through CLIC? Current students should follow these steps:
- Fill out the IAPP Certification Interest Form. CLIC will forward this information onto IAPP and IAPP will reach out to students directly to complete membership and certification program registration.
- Students are responsible for covering the cost of the membership until they pass a certification exam*. After passing the exam of their choice, students should email CLIC with the following information, and then CLIC will work with students to secure membership reimbursement:
a. Proof of exam passage;
b. A copy of their registration; and
c. Copy of the invoice or other proof of payment.
Please note: Students will only be reimbursed for membership within the one-year membership term, so exam passage and reimbursement request submission must happen within that one-year period. Only currently enrolled students are eligible for the discounted student membership, though reimbursement can still happen if a student graduates and passes the exam within the one-year membership period.

*Should a student need to retake the exam, they can purchase one retake during the membership year. Students must contact IAPP to receive the special discount for the first retake. Second retakes, additional certification exams, and any designation sought during or after the Privacy Pathways membership year are full price.
