Following almost a decade of investigation and advocacy by Northeastern Law’s Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Project (CRRJ) and pro bono lawyers at Morgan Lewis, Private Albert King received a full military service last Sunday. “His name was stained, and we needed to cleanse that stain,” Professor Rose Zoltek-Jick, CRRJ’s associate director, told The New York Times.

Elyse Cherry ’83, CEO of BlueHub Capital, will receive the Boston Business Journal’s 2023 LGBT Trailblazer Award at an event in May. She is a member of the boards of Wellesley College and Eastern Bank, and chair of the board of the Forsyth Institute. She is also on the board of directors of The Boston Foundation, where she co-chairs the Advisory Committee for The Equality Fund — a fund supporting Greater Boston nonprofits that strengthen the LGBTQ community.

Northeastern University School of Law is the recipient of the 2022 LGBTQ+ Inclusive Excellence Institutional Award from the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Section on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues (SOGII). This award recognizes innovative contributions to the inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in the legal academy and the legal profession more broadly.
