Coffee Hours

The Center for Public Interest Advocacy and Collaboration hosts regular gatherings for coffee and conversation at 4:40 pm on Thursdays. We provide coffee, tea and treats in the sun room (1st floor library). No registration is necessary but if you think you can make it, please email cpiac@northeastern.edu so we can make sure there are enough snacks.

Recent Coffee Hours Themes:
Organizing for Housing Justice with City Life/Vida Urbana
Protecting Civil Liberties with the Muslim Justice League
Community Lawyering to Fight Deportations with Greater Boston Legal Services

Any suggestions for future topics or guests? Please let us know! Email cpiac@northeastern.edu with your suggestions.

Pro Bono Training Series

In partnership with the Center for Co-op and Career Development, CPIAC is coordinating and expanding pro bono opportunities at Northeastern through a series of pro bono trainings. Stay tuned for details!

Presentations include:
• Unauthorized practice of law (or how not to practice law without a license)
• Interviewing clients with mental health concerns
• Community organizing basics for lawyers
• Ethics of community lawyering

Comment Parties

In partnership with student groups, CPIAC sponsors comment-generating parties on rules such as the Department of Health and Human Services proposal that would have negative implications for LGBTQ+ foster youth and the HUD proposal that would put 55,000 children at risk of eviction due to living with undocumented family members. If you would like to join us, let us know!
